Our Mission

At Ritmo y Apoyo, our mission is to honor the spirit of Quisqueya by directly supporting the people and programs that keep its culture alive.

We work in close partnership with MetaMovements to sustain and expand community-led initiatives in Las Terrenas that center literacy, dance, and creative expression for children, while also supporting the dancers and artists who lead this work on the ground.

These programs were created locally in response to real educational and economic barriers within the community. What began as small, consistent gatherings has grown into ongoing weekly classes where children build foundational literacy skills while also exploring movement, rhythm, and self-expression. As participation continues to expand, so does the need for resources, space, and sustained support.

Through Ritmo y Apoyo, donations go directly toward keeping these programs active and growing. This includes funding weekly literacy and dance classes, providing paid teaching opportunities and emergency support for local artists, and responding to urgent community needs when situations such as flooding or electrical fires impact families.

While MetaMovements operates as an international artist collective, the funds raised through Ritmo y Apoyo are intentionally directed back into the Dominican Republic to sustain and strengthen the programs based in Las Terrenas.

We see this work as a reciprocal exchange. Many people travel to the Dominican Republic to dance, learn, and connect with its culture. Ritmo y Apoyo creates a pathway for that appreciation to become ongoing, tangible support for the communities who carry these traditions forward every day.

Guided by dignity, consistency, and care, our mission is to help ensure that these locally led programs continue to grow, providing children with creative and educational opportunities while supporting the artists who make this cultural ecosystem possible.
